BAU 2007: Patented sliding insulation bar prevents the bimetal effect and its consequences

Thermal separation thanks to new sliding barrier optimising Akotherm door systems in the future.

Doors not working properly when exposed to great heat often give grounds for owners complaining. The cause of this is the so-called bimetal effect. The metal expands in great heat and because it is inherent in the design, it inevitably leads to the well-known, undesirable adverse effects.

Akotherm has risen to this challenge and achieved thermal separation for its AT 730 and AT 730 HIS door systems using a new, patented sliding insulation bar. Although this new development cannot actually stop the bimetal effect itself, what it can do is to reduce the thermal warping which results to virtually imperceptible levels.
