CASwell R-5111 and R-5211 Cloud Storage Servers Offer High Performance and Flexibility

High-End rackmount devices based on Intel Xeon-SP Dual-CPUs support up to 24 3.5"/2.5" SATA/SAS HDDs and 2.5" NVMe U.2 SSDs

Taipei, Taiwan – November 1st, 2018 – CASwell has introduced the new R-5211 and R-5111 high-end cloud storage servers to provide high processing performance, fast data access and flexible storage configurations by supporting a variety of drives at different form factors.

Both 19-inch rackmount devices are based on two Intel Xeon Scalable Processors (Skylake) using the C622 platform controller hub (Lewisburg) and offering 24 DIMM slots for up to 768 GByte DDR4-2666 ECC main memory. These cloud storage servers are equipped with two Gigabit-Ethernet RJ-45 ports and two 10-Gigabit-Ethernet SFP+ ports. More network connections like dual 25-Gigabit-Ethernet can be added by using two PCI Express slots and five NIC expansion slots (on the R-5211). There are two M.2 slots for implementing the operating system and server applications on a boot drive.

Six PWM-controlled fans are making sure the system runs cool while two redundant power supplies provide security in case of failure. PMBus 1.2 is supported for digital management of the PSUs and the "Intelligent Platform Management Interface" (IPMI 2.0) is used for system monitoring and administration.

The CASwell R-5211 is a 2U rackmount device that can be equipped with a variety of CPUs from the energy-efficient Intel Xeon Silver 4116 with 12 cores up to the highest-end Intel Xeon Platinum 8180 with 28 cores for ultimate performance. The R-5211 is available in two versions: The first one can be equipped with up to twelve conventional 3.5-inch hard drives with SATA or SAS interface while the second SKU can be used with up to 24 2.5-inch drives.
The CASwell R-5111 on the other hand is a flat 1U rackmount machine using CPUs up to the Intel Xeon Platinum 8153 with 16 cores but is also available in two forms. While the first one can be installed with up to eight 2.5" SATA or SAS drives, the second SKU can handle up to ten 2.5" NVMe U.2 SSDs.

The CASwell R-5211 and R-5111 are available in many different configurations so they can be equipped according to almost every customer need and storage or networking requirement.
