Synopsis:The world of time-o-rama.com is a treasure trove for local heritage and architecture enthusiasts with old and new photos, sound recordings and interactive timelines going back to 1900. The photo community was recently given a general overhaul and spiced up with lots of new features.

Peter Debik, creator of the time-o-rama.com town and city history project says enthusiastically "Our platform has been spruced up and our membership is growing." time-o-rama.com gathers stories and photos of then & now. Everyone can contribute her own experiences and photos of her life or chronicle to the collection and read about and see what happened in a certain house at a certain time.
"In the past two months we have added lots of new services and drastically increased the speed of the system. However, the true power will not be unleashed until lots more pictures and contributions are uploaded by users", he adds. It is not just calling up small data volumes in a flash that counts, but also being able to process very large volumes of data at a reliable and constant speed. "At present time-o-rama.com has approximately 6,700 interactive timelines and 23,800 photos and sound recordings from the last and present century. That may not be much in an internet context, but it's fantastic for a special interest project of this kind. And we're well equipped for lots more."
time-o-rama.com ensures that every registered user contributes to the project – even if it is with just one photo or one text about a past or present experience. Inactive members are deleted after being notified in good time. Just one small contribution is enough to stay in the system. "We don't want inactive members. Portals of large media groups advertise that they have millions of users, but in truth they often have millions of inactive members – people who registered once but do not participate."
With numerous new program functions and a thematically appropriate design time-o-rama.com wants to reach architecture enthusiasts, town, city and local historians, local heritage societies and tourist associations They can all present their favorite projects, streets, towns and cities on time-o-rama.com free of charge. "Now we need to publicize the project among the target groups", Peter Debik says.

Everyone can contribute her own experiences and photos of her life or chronicle to the collection and read about and see what happened in a certain house at a certain time. If other users have already uploaded photos with an address relating to an event a user is recording, she can use these photos to illustrate her time-o-rama or chronicle.
