Press release from: Ukraine War Animal Relief Fund

[Seattle WA - April 28, 2024] - Ukraine War Animals Relief Fund (UWARF) proudly welcomes Richard "Chris" Hyde as its new Chief Charity Officer. Hyde, a seasoned professional with a demonstrated passion for animal welfare and extensive experience in strategic communications and international collaboration, joins UWARF in its critical mission to address the urgent needs of abandoned animals in war-torn Ukraine.
With an estimated 500,000 abandoned dogs and cats struggling to survive amidst the chaos of conflict, Ukraine faces a dire humanitarian crisis. Many of these animals carry the threat of rabies, posing significant risks to both local residents and those bravely defending Ukraine's freedom.
Hyde's appointment comes at a pivotal moment for UWARF, as the organization intensifies its efforts to vaccinate, spay, and neuter the abandoned animals, thereby reducing the risk of rabies transmission and alleviating the suffering of both animals and communities.
"Joining UWARF as Chief Charity Officer is an incredible opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of animals and the communities affected by the conflict in Ukraine," said Hyde. "I am deeply committed to leveraging my expertise in strategic communications and international collaboration to advance UWARF's mission and support its vital work."
Hyde's background in strategic communications planning and execution, coupled with his resilience and adaptability, positions him as a valuable asset in UWARF's initiatives to raise awareness and mobilize resources for its humanitarian efforts. He recently retired as a Colonel in the United States Army, having last served as Chief of Public Affairs and Deputy Director J10, Strategic Communications at NATO's Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) in Mons. Belgium.
"We are thrilled to have Richard 'Chris' Hyde on board as our new Chief Charity Officer," said Dan Fine, Chairman of the Board for UWARF. "His dedication to animal welfare, coupled with his expertise in strategic communications and international collaboration, will undoubtedly strengthen UWARF's capacity to respond effectively to the crisis facing Ukraine's abandoned animals."
