ATLANTA, GEORGIA – American Megatrends (AMI), a leader in storage and computing innovations, is pleased to introduce its new StorTrends 2400im IP-SAN and 2400nm NAS data storage appliances. Based on the successful 3U StorTrends 3200i and 3200n series from AMI, this solution offers AMI’s unique Dual Dialect IP-SAN/NAS capabilities together with an Intermediate version of StorTrends iTX Data Storage software in a robust 2U form factor and 12 TB of storage capacity.

The StorTrends 2400im IP-SAN storage appliance manages both block and file data in a form factor that has the storage capacity to support departments, branch offices, and small to medium sized business (SMB) users. It merges Ethernet-based Storage Area Networks (IP-SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) on a single storage platform. Ideal for either primary or secondary storage, it provides flexibility and superior manageability at a price that is attractive to SMBs.

The StorTrends 2400nm NAS storage appliance offers the flexibility and performance to be an ideal alternative to traditional Direct Attached Storage (DAS) environments. StorTrends NAS appliances make it simple to centralize file data storage from Windows®, Linux, and Mac® clients across an existing Ethernet network. Easy to install, the StorTrends 2400nm enables an administrator to coordinate all functions related to the discovery, management, tracking and planning for future storage growth.

American Megatrends President and CEO S. Shankar notes that “because the StorTrends 2400i IP-SAN is a Dual Dialect IP-SAN / NAS appliance that allows simultaneous IP-SAN and NAS functions on the same drives, it saves money and precious rack space. These appliances also allow data centers and corporations to solve all of their data storage pain points with a single StorTrends appliance. For data backup and recovery, remote or local storage, replication and multiple site backups, the StorTrends 2400 line does it all, with the added benefit of our unique and innovative ‘single pane of glass’ web-based ManageTrends GUI.”

Both the StorTrends 2400im IP-SAN and StorTrends 2400nm NAS offer a host of advanced features that until now only existed in systems costing many times more. The Volume Replication features of the StorTrends 2400 IP-SAN and NAS appliances allows data to be stored on multiple StorTrends units at multiple sites, and takes advantage of the powerful Wide Area Data Services (WDS) module to dramatically reduce data transfer times and bandwidth to remote sites. The new Auto Provisioning Feature is a great improvement over Thin Provisioning which allows administrators to apply Auto Provisioning to NAS volumes to automatically grow to the size needed. The StorTrends 2400 line also offers solid “green” credentials, with variable speed fans that offer low heat dissipation and BTU output and very efficient power consumption. AMI’s patented, lighting-fast ROW snapshot technology means that snapshots are written to disk in a matter of milliseconds – with no performance loss no matter how many snapshots are taken.

AMI’s Director of Storage Sales, Bradley Westcott, points out the economy of using the 2400 appliance in a Disaster Recovery (DR) solution. “The DR model with the StorTrends 2400 offers two physically redundant systems for less cost than a single dual-controller system. The AMI redundancy concept offers superior reliability and uptime at a price that is more attractive and can offer increased storage capacity over the dual-controller offerings of the competition. We encourage interested resellers and distributors to contact us to learn more about these new storage appliances and the outstanding reseller Partner Program we have in place to support them,” he says.
