Woodlake Resident Manny Blagsvedt Celebrates 103rd Birthday

Sacramento, CA - Manny Blagsvedt, cherished husband, father, great grandfather, and uncle, is preparing to celebrate his 103rd birthday on May 17, 2024.

Growing up on a farm in Humboldt County, MN, Manny cultivated a strong work ethic and invaluable skills. His seven surviving children know him as the dependable "Pops" who can fix anything, from cars to bicycles, and tackle any home project with precision and care.

As a member of the Greatest Generation, Manny bravely served in the Coast Guard during World War II and witnessed the attack on Pearl Harbor firsthand. His role as a communications engineer stationed near the harbor left an indelible mark on him, a difficult chapter he rarely discusses.

After the war, Manny pursued his education, graduating from UC Berkeley with a degree in Electrical Engineering with the support of the GI bill. He married his beloved Joy Katherine Lindner on June 26, 1948, and began a 32-year career with Boeing as an aeronautics field engineer before retiring in 1981.

Manny's legacy extends beyond his professional achievements; his dedication to his faith and community continues to define him. Throughout his life, he generously shared his craftsmanship with churches, and his children cherish the fine pieces of furniture lovingly crafted by their dad.

Throughout their life together, Manny and Joy enjoyed family vacations and trips abroad, creating cherished memories with their children. Despite the hardships of loss, including the passing of two daughters and Joy, his beloved wife of 74 years, Manny remained steadfast in his faith and acceptance of life's challenges.

Now residing in The Woodlake Senior Living in Sacramento, Manny continues to inspire those around him with his resilience and unwavering spirit. As he celebrates his 103rd birthday, we wish Manny a very happy birthday.
